What is Kambo:
Kambo is a secretion from a frog – the Phyllomedusa Tree Frog AKA Giant Monkey Frog from Central and South America. It
is neither a poison nor a venom as commonly misdescribed. Many tribes use Kambo across the Amazon for thousands of
years including: Katukina, Yawanawa, Kaxinawa, Matses, Matis, Mayoruna and Nukini. Each have their own tradition.

How and where the Kambo is sourced:
Kambo I use for ceremonies is from Matses tribe in Puerto Alegra, Peru. The tribe members here have a deep respect for
the frog and the amazing medicine it provides. How the process works is the shamans call in the frogs with unique songs.
Traditionally they use four sticks for ease to then take the secretion from the frog. Although there are some pictures on
the internet that show frogs that seem in discomfort from this process, the frogs that come to the Matses tribe members
willing come initially and after the process and they stay with the tribe members for a while before returning back into the
jungle. The connection between tribe and frog and sharing is uniquely beautiful for these magnificent amphibians who
vibe at an extremely high frequency of love. This is due to them having no fear due to having no predators in the Amazon
rainforest. Purchasing the Kambo from this tribe also contributes to sustaining their basic needs of things like medicine.
What to expect from a treatment:
Prior to a treatment no food is to be consumed for 8 hours prior. A small glass or 2 of water is ok or a cup of herbal tea.
Kambo is a purgative medicine so you will be provided with a bucket and there is a toilet on facility for defecation. This is
the releasing of toxins built up in the body. As well as this physical purge an emotional purge such as tears and or anger
may also occur. Prior to the treatment we will cover all health and safety details before the treatment begins. You will
need to drink 1.5-2 litres of water 15 minutes prior to the medicine being applied, to ensure there is water to purge during
your treatment. The medicine is applied to ‘gates’ made on the body using a glowing non scented incense stick.
Traditionally the males have the gates applied to their left arm and females to their right lower leg, however where you
want them situated is at your own discretion. We will begin with 3 gates and you will receive a test point application, after
which you will be communicating how you are feeling. Normal reactions at this stage and throughout the treatment can
include a flushing / heat arising on your head and or arms and hands, increased heart rate, numbness, swelling on the face,
stiff hands. After this observation I may need to apply more gates to the skin and will then apply the rest of the medicine.
The medicine is absorbed through the gates into the lymphatic system. A purgative part Kambo session can last between
20 – 40 minutes. The full treatment can last up to 3 hours including consultation.
* Please be aware that in the time after your treatment when you return home – emotions may surface, old patterns and
cycles may need to play out again to be released. This is a natural part of any healing journey and feeling them and letting
you pass through you as opposed to supressing them is how we get better. It is best to ensure you have a network of
support around you after if you are not used to being present with your emotions, or you feel vulnerable.

normal. Anti-biotics are best to be taken alone without Kambo – Kambo can be taken after the course of antibiotics.

For those interested in the science behind Kambo:
An Italian scientist Vittorio Erspamer (well known for first discovering Serotonin) was the first to research Kambo in a lab.
He discovered Kambo has the ability to cross the blood-brain barrier, enabling it to reach deep into the body and bring
support to otherwise difficult to treat areas. There are 2 types of peptides found in Kambo – Bioactive Peptides which have
a specific biological function in the body and Neuropeptides – produced in the brain and help neurons to communicate
with each other. Human cells open up to the beneficial properties of Kambo unlike many substances that are filtered and
eliminated by the body’s highly intelligent defence system. Thus far, researchers have discovered nine peptides, some of
which are bio-active – meaning that they perform specific functions in the body. The major peptides identified in the
